Head-End Systems
The Headend is the heart of CATV system. It handles many functions including reception and processing of broadcast or “off-air” television signals and reception, decryption and modulation of satellite-delivered programming in preparation for distribution to cable television subscribers.
The broadcast signals routed to the headend are filtered to reject any unwanted signals from adjacent off-air channels and adjusted for proper aural & visual carrier levels in. These signals are then routed and combined for distribution. The whole system allows for channel-mapping, whereby adminstrators select what channels are captured and distributed to the user community.
A post amplifier reinforces the signal and forwards to the distribution system.

Broadband distribution is all about getting a strong clear signal for all channels, regardless of the source, to all video destinations within a campus. This involves three general functions: gathering, and often creating, the signals, adjusting the levels, and distributing them to end users. The first two functions are handled by a head end, and the third is achieved in various ways.
Adasca provides both head-end and distribution systems in educational, corporate and government facilities.
